In a cultural exchange event Friday afternoon at Zuo'an Science and Technology Park in Guangming District, local residents and expats came together for an enriching coffee experience.
Organized by the Foreign Affairs Bureau of Guangming District in collaboration with Times High Tech Park, the English salon aimed to promote cultural exchange and community engagement.
Gabriel Scholze da Silva from Brazil captivated the audience with his insights into Brazilian specialty coffee. Delving into the world of coffee, Gabriel elaborated on the essence of specialty coffee, its health benefits, and the distinctive qualities of Brazil's prominent coffee production.
Discussing the significance of specialty coffee, Gabriel referenced the SCA Sensory Assessment Methodology, where a coffee must score a minimum of 80 points out of 100 to qualify. He highlighted Brazil's record-breaking coffee score of 93.89, emphasizing the meticulous process and premium cost associated with this distinguished beverage.
Gabriel also shed light on the characteristics of Brazil's premier coffee production region and diverse coffee processing methods.
Engaging the attendees with practical demonstrations, he shared valuable tips for achieving an optimal brewing experience. The participants relished the interactive session and savored the aromatic coffees prepared by Gabriel.
George Manger from England, expressed his delight in connecting with individuals from diverse backgrounds over a mutual passion for coffee. "It's very nice to connect with the people from all over the world. It's very interesting and very helpful," he said.
Andrade Espinoza Gonzalo from the United States appreciated the platform for fostering interpersonal bonds and exchanging ideas on shared interests. "It's a great place where we can meet new people, interact and exchange ideas. It helps you develop your interpersonal relations," he said.
The English Salon serves as a bridge for fostering connections and encouraging intellectual discourse within the community, according to Dr. Nihad Cheraga from Algeria, a business development manager at Times High Tech Park and hostess of the salon.
"Gabriel was one of my guests last time. After knowing about his career, I invited him for this informative session today," she said.
