Guangming District in Shenzhen is set to unveil a new cultural landmark, the Honghuashan Sports Center, as reported by Shenzhen Guangming WeChat account.

Situated on the west side of Hongfa Road, the center is located near the Guangming District Cultural Center to the southwest, with Honghuashan Park close by, providing beautiful scenic surroundings.

Covering approximately 63,000 square meters, the center includes an existing gymnasium and a newly constructed facility with a total floor area of around 46,000 square meters. The new facility features a gymnasium, a swimming pool, a badminton hall, tennis courts, a 400-meter running track, and a soccer field.

The design of the sports center incorporates open spaces, including a main plaza and an athletic field, strategically positioned to enhance the relationship with the nearby green spaces. This design choice not only creates a vibrant athletic venue but also offers users stunning scenic views.

As a renovation and expansion project, designing it to complement existing structures was a priority for the design team. Enhancements include an improved architectural facade, a rooftop observation platform, and optimized openings on the new gymnasium, all designed to harmonize with surrounding residential buildings.

Employing a landscape architecture concept, the design features a unique "suspended stone" structure that not only reflects modern architectural aesthetics but also establishes a visually striking urban landscape for the district.

The team envisions recreational spaces beneath this "suspended stone" that include vibrant walkways, children's play areas, art installations, viewing platforms, artistic green hills, and serene pathways — all aimed at enhancing daily experiences and accessibility while fostering a sense of community.

The center will collaborate with esteemed domestic and international educational organizations to offer a diverse sports education curriculum, catering to all age groups from early education to adulthood. It will also introduce extended projects, such as research travels and training camps, to establish a new cooperative model between schools and businesses.

The center will encompass a wide range of activities, from professional sports events to mass fitness entertainment, educational training, and leisure activities, shaping it into a comprehensive sports and cultural hub that attracts visitors of all ages and encourages interaction among various activities.
