The Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum (New Building) is set to be a pioneering digital civilization innovation and technology museum globally. Positioned at the heart of Guangming Science City, it focuses on "digital civilization and innovative future," aspiring to serve as a new engine, landmark, and benchmark.
Comprising seven key functional zones — technology exhibition, science education cinema, innovation practice, technology exchange, public service, business management, and science park — the museum stands out as a significant hub for young learners to engage with scientific knowledge, and comprehend technology's implications on life and the future.
Beyond the conventional role of merely showcasing, the design and construction of this museum carry a profound purpose of public education and scholarly exchange. With diverse exhibition spaces, advanced interactive tools, and engaging forum discussions, the layout prioritizes interactive and sensory experiences, encouraging visitors to embrace science and kindle their spirit of exploration.
Taking inspiration from natural shapes, the building's architecture mirrors a vessel sailing towards the future, featuring a spacecraft-like exterior in deep grey metal. Internally, the seamless connections between different exhibition areas unlock boundless possibilities, harmonizing the building with nature and the neighboring public realms. Initiated in late 2019, the project meticulously translates the designer's vision into reality via meticulous scientific oversight.
Embracing numerous cutting-edge technologies, the Science and Technology Museum embodies innovation while promoting sustainability through its eco-friendly features like rainwater recycling and energy-efficient insulated glass, aimed at reducing energy consumption.
This establishment is poised to shine as a guiding light for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Guangdong-Shenzhen Technology Innovation Corridor, playing a vital role as a key educational platform for nurturing scientific minds.
Adaptable to varying needs, activities, and exhibition approaches, the venue seamlessly integrates with nature and the surrounding public spaces in its outward appearance.
